millwood out, young reaches 1000

Kevin Millwood will be on the shelf until after the all-star break. Millwood hasn't tossed a ball since straining his right bicep Sunday against Houston. He wants to throw a bullpen session this weekend, but doctors told him not to throw until the ache in his arm is gone. Manager Buck Showalter indicated there was an outside chance Millwood could start Saturday or Sunday, but he's more likely to start July 14 or 15 after the All-Star break. John Wasdin will start in Millwood's spot on Friday. As a side note, has anyone else noticed that Millwood has virtually NO personality whatsoever?

Michael Young got his 1000th career hit with a single in the 4th inning of July 4th's 3-2 loss to Toronto. It came in his 827th career game, the fastest a Ranger has reached the plateau. Young is the ninth player in club history to record at least 1,000 hits. He is also tied for 10th among active players in fewest games played to reach 1,000.
